New laws in Maine clarify the definition of a service animal and bring their statutes more in line with the Federal interpretation of the ADA. Prior to these new laws, Maine had a loose interpretation of the definition of a service animal, causing confusion with shop owners and employers. Now a service animal is clearly defined as being a dog.
