The National Football League has hired Robert Gulliver as its first executive vice president of human resources, the Associated Press reports. Gulliver previously served as head of human resources for a Wells Fargo division in Charlotte, N.C.

The NFL announced Gulliver’s addition along with the hiring of Paul Hicks, who replaces Joe Browne as the league’s vice president of communications and government affairs. Hicks was previously a regional chief executive officer of the Americas for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.

Browne is now a senior adviser to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

In addition to becoming the league’s first executive vice president of human resources, Gulliver will also serve as the NFL’s chief diversity officer.
